Health Checkup & Questionnaire

Health Checkup for New Registrants

To become a Radiation Worker, you need to undergo a “Health Checkup for RI Users” including blood test. This is a checkup different from the “Regular Health Checkup for Staff and Faculties” or “Health Checkup for Visiting Researchers” or “Students’ Yearly Health Checkup”, and it includes blood test items not covered in regular periodic checkups.

Note that this health checkup is not required for those registered in the category “X-AB” (those who use only X-ray devices classified in the category A or B).

1) To check the date, time and place, visit the website of UTokyo Health Service Center [ https://www.hc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/en/checkups/radio-isotope-use-medical-screening/ ].

2) First of all, log in to UTRadMS and answer an inquiry. After the primary judgement, you will receive an e-mail from UTRadMS. Please follow the instructions and proceed with the procedure.

3) You need to make a reservation at the website of UTokyo Health Service Center at latest 3 days before the checkup. Confirm the details by referring to the e-mail from UTRadMS.

4) You should make a reservation as soon as possible because the daily capacity is limited. And make sure that you have chosen the right time and the place.

5) You may need to take further medical checkup when the medical doctor judges it necessary.

Periodic Health Checkup for Continuing Users (Web Questionnaire)

Those who wish to continue as Radiation Workers at the School of Science, UTokyo are required to undergo “Periodic Health Checkups” twice every school year by answering a web-based questionnaire. Exception: those who are registered in the category “X-AB” (those who use only X-ray devices classified in the category A or B) do not need to undergo health checkups.

The “Periodic Health Checkups” will take place twice every school year in July and January. Each individual Radiation Worker will receive an e-mail notification from the UTRadMS, in addition to administrative notice from the Radiation Management Office. Continuing users are requested to complete the web-based questionnaire by the deadline.

You find a question “Were you ever exposed to radiation?” refers to cases where a significant dose was detected or suspected due to radiation work, or where the worker is aware of such exposure. Please note that this question does not simply ask whether you worked in a radiation-controlled area.

Note that you may need to take further medical checkup when the medical doctor judges it necessary as a result of the questionnaire.
